Safe Drinking Water Operator Essentials
New Mandatory Certificate Renewal Course for Drinking Water Operators & Water Quality Analysts
Ontario Regulation for the Certification of Drinking Water Operators and Water Quality Analyst (O. Reg. 128/04) requires drinking water operators and water quality analysts to take a mandatory Ministry developed training course as a condition of certificate renewal. The Diligence in Drinking Water Operations, certificate renewal course has been available since January 2015. Effective January 1, 2018 this course will be replaced with Safe Drinking Water Operator Essentials, developed in partnership with the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks and will be delivered by the Walkerton Clean Water Centre.
The Safe Drinking Water Operator Essentials course focuses on:
- Emergency Planning and Response
- Regulatory Updates
- Equipment Maintenance
- Disinfection by-products
- Lead Sampling Protocol
- Disinfection of Watermains
- Climate Change Risk Assessment
- Effective Equipment Maintenance
- Utility Energy Management
- Adverse test results, notification procedures and corrective action requirements will also be discussed.
How to Register for the Certificate Renewal Course
The Safe Drinking Water Operator Essentials classroom course will be delivered in multiple locations across the province and will also be available by correspondence.
